Mark Graduates

Well, it has been quite some time since I have updated this blog. I guess I have not gotten this whole ''blogging'' thing down. A lot of exciting things have happened to the Hewes family this year. Most recently, Mark has finished his Bachelor's Degree from The University of South Alabama. It has been a long road for us all, but we are so proud of his accomplishments. He is going to continue to work for USA football this summer and will start graduate school in the fall. Mark will continue his employment with USA football as a graduate assistant in the fall.

The last year ( in a nutshell )

Wow! I am not really good at this blogging thing. Well, let me catch up. The past year has gone by so fast. Mark has been very busy with school. He has made all A's and B's each semester ( Yay!). I am so proud of the hard work he has done. He has been working as the assistant equipment manager for the new University of South Alabama football team. His job has kept him busy, but he absolutely loves it! Mark will graduate in May 2010. We are open to whatever God has in His plans for Mark and our family! We are excited to see what happens!

I signed another year contract for weekends only. It is working out well. I enjoy my job helping families have their babies. I also enjoy having a set schedule. I continue to toy with the notion of going back to school. I am looking at maybe starting a Nursing Masters program next fall. Like I said, I am open to doing what God wants me to do. I feel like I am "putty in His hands".

Mark and I are really enjoying our little girls. Those little "skunks" make me laugh everyday! I can't explain how much I love them. Ella is in Kindergarten now!!! She is enjoying her new friends and activities at school. She enjoys going to the computer lab and the library. Ella is quite the social butterfly. She is taking ballet and tap again this year and children's church choir. What a busy bee! Morgan has grown so much and is talking up a storm! She is in the young 2yo preschool class at Eastern Shore Baptist. She loves Elmo, coloring, taking naps, and just being a silly girl. Morgan is my little comedian! I thank God everyday for giving me the gift of these two beautiful girls. We often think that we have room for more love and children in our family. Who knows? If we have any more kids, we will have to have a minivan!

I think the thing that I am most excited about this year is the unknown. I am just letting the Lord guide us and lead the way. Hopefully, it won't take me another year to post something on this blog! I'll try to keep it updated.

Changes

Well, this year is different for the Hewes family. First of all, I have started working only on the weekends at night. Yes, I work every Friday, Sat., Sun. night from 7p-7a. The reason I have changed to this unusual schedule is to accomodate some changes. Mark is back in school! He is a full time student at the University of South Alabama. He is trying to finish up what he started years ago. His major is in Communications/Public Relations. This is good b/c he has work experience in this field. Not only is Mark going to school and juggling the demands of a wife and two young children, he is also working part time from home selling promotional products. He has been doing this job for several years. The girls are doing well. Ella is in 4k at Eastern Shore Baptist. She LOVES it and is learning so much. Morgan starts mom's day out there today! She will be going three days a week. Because I have to work on Sat. night I ran into the problem of going to church. I get off at 7am, and the church we have been going to 30 miles away does'nt start til 11a. There is no way that I could stay awake for church service, eat lunch and only get a few hours of sleep b/f another 12hour shift. So, the fam and I have decided to go to a church right up the street from us. It has a 8am service that we go to and a great Sunday School program for childre and adults. Although it has been sad to leave our old church, I think this new church is going to be good for us. This is something that we pray about everyday. We also struggle with the idea of not wanting to stay here on the Gulf Coast. We enjoy being so close to our families and appreciate their help, but we greatly miss the Birmingham area too. We miss our dear friends there. Who kknows where we will be when Mark graduates. Ijust pray that God will guide us and open the door to great opportunities for this family.

What girls do when they are bored!

I was home alone with the girls one night and we were trying to think of things to do. Suddenly, Ella and her imagination came up with the idea to " dress up Morgan" . Well, the pictures speak for themselves. We had fun and Morgan did not seem to mind.

Has it already been ten years?

This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending my husband's ten year high school reunion. He was on the planning commitee, so I got a " behind the scene " view of the event. We had an amazing time!! It was great hanging out with old friends. Everyone seemed to be doing great. The weekend started with a dinner at Wintzell's in Mobile. The room was booked for 50 people and 130 people showed up!!! Amazing. On Sat., we met at Good Ol' Murphy High for a pep rally and school tour. The band and cheerleaders were there. It felt like old times. Ella and Morgan had a blast! There was a cocktail party at the Exploreum that night, which by the way, is a perfect place to have an event. Everyone seemed to have a fantastic time. Needless to say, the night did not end till around 3 am. Much fun, Much fun! Anyway, the past ten years have FLOWN by!!!! I guess time flies when you are having fun!!!
